It’s a very old tradition. In the old Usenet days, the old Internet, before the World Web, there was a person that goes by the name Kibo, and there’s this whole practice of looking at each and every public post on the Usenet forums. Whenever anyone mentions Kibo, they go and make a reply, and so that’s called kibology.
