There are many different estimates for when we’ll achieve quantum capabilities and I am not expert enough to predict with any accuracy whether we’re looking at five years, ten years or is it now and the NSA just hasn’t told us. However, I think it would be irresponsible of us not to be paranoid and so we are currently working on a post-quantum model for our key exchange and we are dedicating research and development resources to post-quantum hardening across our cryptographic stack because that’s how we take care of the millions of people who rely on Signal and that’s why we exist.
